WHERE HAVE I SEEN THAT BEFORE? - PART TWO

Irish cinema is full of interesting scenes and storylines that stand out and make the film memorable. What's even more interesting is that they have already been done in older Irish movies!

Man drowns a dog in Connemara
This was a big story point in Poitin but was done a few years earlier in MacKintosh Man.

Boy gets wheeled down the street in a low-wooden cart
One of the best scenes from My left foot but it was done a decade earlier in the Irish TV series Strumpet City.

Lazy Dubliner romances posh TCD female student
One of the best Irish movies was Quackser Fortune but the older Ealing film Another Shore had a similar storyline

Living above the pub on the Dublin quays
Brendan Grace lived above a pub along the Liffey in Moondance but a character in The Fantasist was living the same way a decade earlier.

Young boy and girl running wild in Dublin city centre
Kisses wowed audiences with its story of innocent kids lost in the Capital but did anyone else see Flight of the doves?

Irish emigrants in New York want to go home
Beyond the pale was about twenty-something Irish who couldn't find proper work in the States and wanted to leave but this was already told a few years earlier in Gold in the streets

Irish labourer in Britain look back on his wasted working life
Big fuss made about Kings a few years back but the same story was done better (and more depressingly!) in the earlier I could read the sky

Woman turns into a seal
The selkie was used in Ondine but does anyone remember the similar scene in Secret of Roan Inish?

Young girl scares her superstitious village
Daisy chain was about a disturbed girl who may have evil powers. So what was Dorothy about then? The exact same!

A non-national gets coerced into prostitution
A naive woman travels to Ireland to find honest work but gets forced into prostitution (W.C.). This is the exact same scene used in the earlier made Trafficked but it got a belated release later.

Master of the world

Dated movie from the 1960s with Vincent Price trying to stop wars around the world. He uses an airship to attack from the sky. A group of ...
