THE TEN BEST IRISH FILMS OF THE 2000S

It wasn't all Celtic Tiger movies in the noughties. In between that crap a small number of good films got made here. Yes, even better than Summer of the Flying Saucer! Here is Shoot the Cabbage's list of the ten best Irish movies from the last decade (2000 to '09).

Garage
Why wasn't this kind of film made back in the '90s? Why did we have to wait so long? Why?

Adam and Paul
The best (only?) cult film that the Irish Film Board has funded. More people with philosophy degrees should be making films in Ireland!

Pavee Lackeen
Shoot the Cabbage's vote for the best Irish movie of the decade!

Short Order
Only in Ireland would the director of this impressive film follow it up with a Maeve Binchy movie!

Country
If you must watch an Irish rural movie set in the '50s/'60s then watch this one!

Once
Says it all when no-one here thought much of this film until the Yanks went mad for it.

Kisses
Like a typical Irish movie from the '90s but without all that 'magical' and clich├ęd bullsh*t.

Rat
Much better than a lot of the more famous Irish comedies!

Foxes
Impressive movie that few liked because none of the characters were 'nice'.

Helen
One of the very few Irish arthouse films made in the last decade. Stands out for that reason.
