BRENDAN GLEESON AND AT SWIM TWO BIRDS!
Seems Gleeson's pet project based on the famous Irish novel is getting made. That's according to the media reports where the Film Board has agreed to fund the project along with EU investors. Gleeson is the guy who said we should be making 'quality' films like Studs! But he's a success and is entitled to direct his own movie. However, there are far more duds directed by actors than classics like Night of the hunter.

NEW CINEMA FOR THE LIGHTHOUSE!
That's according to today's Evening herald newspaper. Seems buyers are interested in repoening the 'out-of-town' cinema under another name? Bet it won't be as good as the late Screen on the quays where Shoot the cabbage sat through a double bill of Evil dead and Death wish 3 as a kid?

BRYLCREEM BOYS FOR TV?
Seems the Brylcreem boys might be turning into a TV series? Although little seen it remains one of the better Irish titles from the '90s. So best of luck to this project.

POINT PICTURES
New cinema complex in the IFSC. Not sure if this will be the new IMAX but according to yesterday's Irish Times it will host premieres and have sky lights to complete the Hollywood effect. So that's great news for the next Irish gangster movie and other hyped rubbish that the media here loves!

AS IF I AM NOT THERE GETTING *** REVIEWS IN BRITAIN!
Seems the IFTA-winning As if I am not there is getting lukewarm reviews in Britain? Strictly 3-starred reviews from the longsheet newspapers. Strange the way some Irish-made films do less well abroad. Then there are films here that have the opposite effect e.g. Once?
